Here is TMD's rankings for each FB coach and his job security. One thing that I hadn't thought of, there are a lot of pretty secure jobs in the MAC this year.
Is Parrish safe if this year goes like '09?

I agree with the article.

| When he was hired last year, he received mixed reviews at best. He's got to do a lot better this year than running a 2-10 team and constantly fighting with the local media. If not, Parrish might be looking at retirement.

I think every coach deserves 4 years unless they are the instigator of a NCAA violation. It takes time to recruit, but the leash should only be extended so long. Bill Lynch was a nice guy, but no way did he deserve 7 years at the helm at BSU. His '96 bowl team consisted of players mostly inherited from the previous coach. If the program by December 2012 is not close to being near the top of the MAC, then he should be on the hot seat because he can't use excuses of losing starters from the special 2008 season 2 years down the road.

I believe Parrish and the gang will have a break-out season this year, and I'm hoping we are contending. But I'm watching 2011 much closer.
2011 should show us where this program under Parrish really is. The offense, as a whole, will be mature. Orsbon and Baker will provide Senior leadership to the Cardinal team.
Don't get me wrong. I think this year's football team will do well.

Cardfan, I disagree with you on the offense being mature. I will grant you that the running backs and receivers have some maturity on their side, but the quarterback and the entire offensive line have yet to prove their skill or maturity. The test of this squad will be how much have they improved over last year's understandable but dismal performance. Again, I caution fans that think an eight win season and bowl game is in the Cards (pun intended) this season. We are very young and inexperienced in key positions on both sides of the ball. Big mistakes will be made and how we overcome those will be the story. We need the upperclassmen to lead by example and provide role models for our first and second year starters. I really feel that senior leadership is an essential key to the success of a football team. Let's hope our fourth and fifth year players can answer that challenge. _________________ Bigger Faster Stronger

You are dead on, but we do have enough talent coupled with a weak first two games and a weak MAC West I think a minimum of 6 wins should be attainable.
Orsbon is a junior - not a senior - but he will be a leader. I have a funny feeling that Otis Brown will be our most dynamic receiver, though. After last year I think our receiver corps actually has a lot to prove. They were not very productive last year and didn't show the ability to stretch the field. We have plenty of talent at that position, but we do have a lot of unknowns - someone needs to step forward. _________________ GO CARDS!

In my view it will all boil down to the play of the O - Line.
If they perform well and provide the QB adequate time the receivers will perform well. The O - line has to do more than pass block as run blocking needs to be there as well. If so we can keep the D off balance and we definitely have the horses to run the ball if the blocking is in place.
So if the O - line lives up to their potential this team will really surprise some teams with an explosive offense and a very improved defense!

honestly as "bad" as our O line was compared to the #12 in the nation team... doesnt seem that bad.. These guys still scored plenty last year and will continue to score this year..
Our biggest problem is the confidence to close out the game(s).. I think there was 5 games we lost in the final 3 minutes of 4th quarter.... Thats on the Defense not the O line _________________ Go Cards 2009!

Cedar, you are correct. Both sides of the ball have many questions to be answered. The defense will have to address the defensive line and cornerback situations. One of our weak points for years has been putting pressure on opposing quarterbacks. Last year our corners left quite a bit to be desired. How the coaching staff attacks these problem areas will be the answer to the other side of the equation on how well we perform this coming season. _________________ Bigger Faster Stronger

My comment about the offense being "mature" was referring to the 2011 season, not the 2010 season. And I was referring to Orsbon providing Senior leadership in 2011, not 2010. We have a some growing to do.
